Charge forward with reliable, efficient EV charging solutions

With more drivers going electric, having the right charging setup at home or work isn’t just a convenience—it’s an essential part of modern living.

At AKA Mechanical, we design, install, and maintain EV charging points that are safe, compliant, and tailored to how you use your vehicle.

What We Offer

We provide a full EV charging service from survey through to aftercare, for both domestic and commercial customers:

  • Home EV Chargers – wall‑mounted or freestanding units, compatible with all major EV models. Ideal for overnight charging, smart scheduling and integrating with your existing electrical setup.

  • Workplace & Fleet Charging – charge points for businesses, offices or fleets. From single sockets to multi‑socket installation, we make sure your infrastructure meets demand.

  • Public & Shared Charging Points – for landlords, apartment blocks or small business premises where parking is shared or used by multiple users.

Why Install an EV Charger?

Here are strong reasons many of our customers choose to add a charging point:

  • Convenience & peace of mind – no more hunting for a public charger; plug in at home and always start with a full battery. Smarthome Charge highlights how home chargers let you control your charging schedule and track usage, helping lower electricity bills.

  • Cost savings – installing a charger can be a smarter long‑term investment than relying solely on public charging. Grants like the EV Homecharge Scheme may reduce the upfront cost.

  • Supports grants & incentives – there are several UK government grants available for home and workplace charging, helping cover up to 75% of costs in some cases.

  • Future ready & compliant – using OZEV‑approved installers and compliant chargers ensures safety, warranty coverage, and peace of mind.

  • Boost business amenity & CSR – for businesses, offering charging facilities can attract customers, support staff, improve business reputation, and align with environmental goals.

Factor Why it matters
Charger power rating (kW) Determines how fast you can charge. More power = faster charging, but depends on your supply and usage needs.
Type of charge point (single‑phase / three‑phase) Homes often have single‑phase power; larger business premises may be able to support three‑phase for faster or multiple charges.
Connectivity & smart features Things like scheduling, app control, data on usage help save money and make using the charger easier.
Location & cable routing How far the charger is from your consumer unit/meter, whether cable runs need digging or surface runs—these affect cost.
Warranty & maintenance Choose proven brands with good warranties, and an installer who offers support.

What to Expect

When you choose AKA Mechanical, here’s how the process usually works:

  1. Free site survey – we visit your property or premises to assess existing electrical supply, parking layout, distance to meter/consumer unit, any trenching or cable routes required.

  2. Proposal & options – we outline charger options, brands (all from trusted, recognised manufacturers), estimated costs, timescales, and any grant eligibility.

  3. Installation – qualified and certified electricians install the charge point safely, handling all wiring, approvals or permissions, and testing.

  4. Aftercare & maintenance – charger units require minimal upkeep, but we offer routine checks, support for any faults, and advice on optimising usage (e.g. scheduling, tariff changes).

Grants & Financial Support

Good news: there are several government‑schemes that can help with the cost:

  • Grants for homes (EV Homecharge Scheme) & for workplace/fleet installations can cover a portion of purchase and installation.

  • Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grants for landlords, residential car parks or shared housing.

  • Depot Charging Scheme: if you have a fleet depot, there’s funding to help cover up to 75% of chargepoint and civils costs.

We’ll help you navigate which grant(s) you’re eligible for and include them in your quote.
