November 6, 2024Heat pumps work at their most efficient when the inside temperature is similar to the outside, In much the same way that your fridge works in hot weather.
Due to this, they are a great to use with underfloor heating systems as floors cover a much bigger area than radiators meaning they don’t need to get as hot to provide the same amount of heat in a room.
Air source heat pumps have a lower output than a gas or oil-fired boiler meaning they can’t deliver heat quickly and best used to heat your home up slowly over a longer period.
Using an air source heat pump for hot water
Heat pumps can be a great source of hot water but the water generated will be cooler than from a boiler. This means that If you’re running a bath, you’ll need more hot water and less from the cold tap, therefore possibly needing a bigger water tank to compensate.

Benefits to having a heat pump in your home.
Reduce Carbon Footprint
As mentioned above, with an air source heat pump, around 75% of the energy use to heat your home is renewable.
Low running costs
Heat pumps are incredible efficient and with low ongoing costs are great value for money over the long term.
Future-proof your home
How we heat our homes in the future is going to change and we will need to make sure we are more heat efficient. Not only that but heat source pumps have a longer life span than boilers making an even better return on investment.
